Monday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Spot Prices Move Higher

DOW JONES: 124 Points Lower

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

Barrel cheese price pushed higher early Monday during spot trading as buyers were looking for product. Price increased 4 cents, closing at $1.95 with four loads traded. Block cheese price increased 0.75 cent, closing at $1.9150 with one load traded. There was an unfilled bid in each remaining at the close of trading. The strength turned Class III milk futures from double-digit losses to gains in most contracts. April shows the market gain with an increase of 36 cents. Futures range from 6 cents lower to 36 cents higher. Butter price increased 3 cents, closing at $2.7850 with four loads traded. Grade A nonfat dry milk price gained 0.25 cents, closing at $1.90 with three loads traded. This moves nonfat dry milk to another multi-year high. Dry whey price increased 2 cents, closing at 84.25 with five loads traded. Class IV futures are mixed from 18 cents lower to 12 cents higher. Butter futures are 3.77 cents lower to 1.90 cents higher. Dry whey futures are 1.50 cents lower to 0.42 cent higher.
