Monday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Milk Futures Remain Strong

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

CORN: 11 Higher
SOYBEANS: 25 Higher
SOYBEAN MEAL: $6.60 Higher
LIVE CATTLE: $0.02 Higher
DOW JONES: 50 Points Higher
NASDAQ: 11 Points Lower
CRUDE OIL: $1.25 Lower,

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

Spot cheese trade was slow to get going, but barrel cheese was eventually bid higher. Barrels increased 1.50 cents, closing at $1.91 with no loads traded. There were three unfilled bids remaining at the close. Block cheese price remained unchanged at $1.90 with no loads traded. No buyers and sellers showed up to do any business. Dry whey price remained unchanged with two unfilled bids posted below the market. Butter price increased 1.785 cents, closing at $2.5175 with no loads traded. An unfilled bid moved price higher. Grade A nonfat dry milk price increased 1.25 cents, closing at $1.8450 with six loads traded. Spot nonfat dry milk has been an active market with quite a bit of trading over the past few weeks. Monday, there were unfilled bids for five loads and uncovered offers for three loads. Class III futures are 8 to 42 cents higher with May showing the greatest gain. Class IV futures are 3 to 16 cents higher. Butter futures are 1.50 cents lower to 5.55 cents higher. Dry whey futures are 0.50 to 1.00 cent higher.
