Friday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Milk and Butter Futures Explode Higher

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

CORN: 2 Higher
SOYBEANS: 7 Higher
SOYBEAN MEAL: $4.00 Higher
LIVE CATTLE: $0.55 Lower
DOW JONES: 225 Points Lower
NASDAQ: 229 Points Lower
CRUDE OIL: $2.08 Higher

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

Block cheese price increased 0.75 cent, closing at $1.9075 with two loads traded. Barrel cheese price increased 5.25 cents, closing at $1.91 with seven loads traded. Dry whey price regained the loss of Thursday, increasing 3.25 cents, closing at 82.25 with six loads traded. The strength pushed Class III futures substantially higher with March up as much as 79 cents to $23.24 and April up 69 cents to a high of $23.24. Futures have slipped back from those highs but remain very strong. Futures range from 6-53 cents higher. Butter prices jumped 17.75 cents during spot trading, closing at $2.7550 with three loads traded. Grade A nonfat dry milk price increased 1.75 cents, closing at 41.8975 with four loads traded. Class III futures are 15-62 cents higher. Butter futures 1.10-15 cents higher with five contracts locked limit up. Dry whey futures are 0.22 cent lower to 1.40 cents higher
