Wednesday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Spot Prices Fall Back

Block cheese price declined 1.50 cents closing at $1.7375 with 2 loads traded. Price initially went to $1.76 before a load traded. Price could not hold in positive territory with the offer lowered until the final trade at the closing price. Barrel cheese price did not even move higher but continued to decline, closing spot trading 5.50 cents lower at $1.5950 with 2 loads traded. Dry whey price also declined 1.75 cents closing at 52 cents with 2 loads traded. This turned Class III futures from posting double-digit gains to double-digit losses. Contracts range from 36 cents lower to 5 cents higher. Gains are seen in 2022 contracts. Butter price closed unchanged at $1.71 with 11 loads traded. Price initially increased 3.50 cents before selling pressure move price off the high. Grade A nonfat dry milk price declined 2.75 cents closing at $1.24 with 3 loads traded. Class IV futures are 14 cents to 17 cents higher remaining higher due to lack of trading activity. They will adjust lower. Butter futures are 0.22 cent to 1.00 cents higher. Dry whey futures are 0.55 cent lower to 1.00 cents higher.
