Block cheese price increased 2.25 cents, closing at $1.83 with 16 loads traded. It was as if the floodgates opened and buyers continued to find sellers willing to meet their bids. That was interesting as buying and selling interest has been very limited for weeks. What is more interesting is that there were only 2 offers for blocks remaining at the close of spot trading. Barrel cheese price jumped 10.75 cents, closing at $1.6925 with six loads traded. Price did move up another 0.50 cent before it slipped back at the close. No unfilled bids or offers remained. Butter pushed higher, posting a gain of 3.50 cents and closing at $1.88 with three loads traded. Grade A nonfat dry milk price remained unchanged at $1.2050 with no loads traded. Dry whey price slipped a penny ending at 63 cents with one load traded. USDA estimated milk production this year to reach 227.7 billion pounds, up 400 million pounds from their previous estimate.
