Friday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Butter Continues to Sink

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

SOYBEAN MEAL: $0.20 Lower
LIVE CATTLE: $0.80 Higher
DOW JONES: 405 Points Lower
NASDAQ: 155 Points Lower
CRUDE OIL: $2.35 Lower

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

Both blocks and barrels remained unchanged at $1.8650 and $1.9125 with no loads traded. There was only an offer for a load of barrels at the close of spot trading. Traders did not like the stable price of cheese with only a seller showing up to do business. Class III futures from 28 cents lower to 1 cent higher with the only gain in the July contract. The dry whey price increased by 0.75 cent, closing at 51.75 cents with no loads traded. The butter price showed further selling pressure, declining three cents and closing at $3.0750 with 20 loads traded. Grade A nonfat dry milk increased by 0.75 cent, closing at $1.1975 with no loads traded. Class IV futures have only shown trading in the June 2025 contract with the price down 8 cents. Butter futures are 2.00 to 6.45 cents lower. Dry whey futures are unchanged to 0.62 cent higher.
