Monday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Butter Falls Back

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

CORN: 5 Lower
SOYBEANS: 29 Higher
SOYBEAN MEAL: $5.40 Higher
LIVE CATTLE: $0.70 Higher
DOW JONES: 133 Points Higher
NASDAQ: 11 Points Higher
CRUDE OIL: $0.36 Higher

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

Block cheese price increased 2 cents, closing at $1.60 with one load traded. Barrel cheese price declined 0.50 cent, closing at $1.55 with three loads traded. Dry whey price slipped 0.50 cent, closing at 39 cents with two loads traded. This provided slight support to Class III futures with contracts ranging from 9 cents lower to 9 cents higher. Only the February contract shows a loss.

Butter dropped 9.50 cents, closing at $2.5750 with no loads traded. Grade A nonfat dry milk remained unchanged at $1.1650 with no loads traded. Class IV futures have not traded yet today. Butter futures are 0.50 to 2 cents lower. Dry whey futures are 0.60 cent lower to 0.35 cent higher. Traders are not excited over the market as underlying cash remains choppy and prices increases short-lived.
