Thursday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Higher Cheese and Butter Are Unable to Support Futures

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

CORN: 2 Higher
SOYBEANS: 9 Lower
SOYBEAN MEAL: $6.00 Higher
LIVE CATTLE: $0.67 Higher
DOW JONES: 96 Points Higher
NASDAQ: 10 Points Higher
CRUDE OIL: $1.59 Lower

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

Block cheese price increased 0.25 cent closing at $1.9675 with one load traded. Barrel price increased 0.25 cent closing at $1.8025 with no loads traded. Even with the slight increase of cheese prices after remaining steady a few days, traders did not care keeping the market under pressure. Dry whey price declined 0.50 cent closing at 27 cents with 8 loads traded. Traders seemed to focus on the weakness of dry whey rather than a slight improvement of cheese. Class III futures are 2-31 cents lower on light trading activity. Butter price increased 2.50 cents closing at $2.69 with 4 loads traded. Grade A nonfat dry milk price declined 2 cents closing at $1.11 with 7 loads traded. Class IV futures have only traded in the October contract and that being 23 cents lower. Butter futures are 1.15 cents lower to 2.75 cents higher. Dry whey futures are 0.10-1.12 cents lower.
