Tuesday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Blocks Able to Hold Gains

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

CORN: 12 Higher
SOYBEANS: 9 Higher
SOYBEAN MEAL: $2.20 Lower
LIVE CATTLE: $2.55 Higher
DOW JONES: 64 Points Lower
NASDAQ: 23 Points Higher
CRUDE OIL: $0.26 Lower

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

Block cheese price increased 3 cents, closing at $1.46 with one load traded. There were seven unfilled bids and one uncovered offer remaining at the close. Barrel cheese price increased 1.75 cents with three loads traded. There was an unfilled bid remaining with no uncovered offers. It was nice to see prices were able to retain the highs without selling pressure pushing them back down. Dry whey price increased a penny, closing at 27.50 cents with no loads traded. There were nine unfilled bids and five uncovered offers. Class III futures are 5 cents lower to 23 cents higher. The only contract showing a loss is February. Traders remain reluctant to buy into the market otherwise futures would be significantly higher. Butter price declined 2.50 cents, closing at $2.3775 with five loads traded. Sellers went home satisfied as only one unfilled bid remained. Grade A nonfat dry milk price increased 0.25 cent, closing at $1.1650 with six loads traded. Class IV futures have not yet traded. Butter futures are 0.87 cent lower to 1.97 cents higher. Dry whey futures are unchanged to 1.00 cent higher.
