Wednesday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Spot Prices Move Higher


OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

CORN: 5 Higher
SOYBEANS: 1 Higher
SOYBEAN MEAL: $2.50 Lower
LIVE CATTLE: $1.00 Lower
DOW JONES: 57 Points Higher
NASDAQ: 66 Points Higher
CRUDE OIL: $2.95 Lower

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

Block cheese price increased 2.75 cents, settling at $1.69 with three loads traded and two unfilled bids remaining. Barrel cheese price increased 2.75 cents, closing at $1.5850 with nine loads traded. Dry whey price increased 1.25 cents, closing at 33.75 cents with 18 loads traded. There were seven unfilled bids remaining at the close with no offers. Dry whey is in demand with buyers taking what is being offered on the spot market and bidding higher to get it. Class III futures are 4 to 17 cents higher. Butter price increased 2 cents, closing at $2.4425 with one load traded. Grade A nonfat dry milk price increased 0.50 with six loads traded. There were three loads offered at the end of trading. Class IV futures are 5 to 18 cents higher. Butter futures are 0.50 to 2.75 cents higher. Dry whey futures are unchanged to 2 cents higher. USDA will announce the April Federal Order class prices this afternoon.
