Monday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Weakness Continues in Milk Futures

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

CORN: Unchanged
SOYBEANS: 3 Higher
SOYBEAN MEAL: $0.80 Lower
LIVE CATTLE: $0.40 Lower
DOW JONES: 69 Points Higher
NASDAQ: 26 Points Higher
CRUDE OIL: $1.81 Lower

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

Block cheese price was up and down during the trading period. Price initially increased 0.75 cent only to slip back to end 0.50 cent lower at $1.6825 with 7 loads traded. Barrel cheese price declined 2.50 cents closing at $1.5650 with 7 loads traded. Dry whey price declined 2.75 cents closing at 32.50 cents with 12 loads traded. Class III futures are 26 cents lower to 11 cents higher. The only strength of futures is seen in the 2024 contracts. Butter price remained steady at $2.3525 with no loads traded. Grade A nonfat dry milk price declined 1.75 cents closing at $1.1575 with 2 loads traded. Class IV futures are steady to 2 cents higher. The June contract has seen an unusual amount of activity so far Monday with 75 contracts traded. Butter futures are 0.35 cent lower to 3.47 cents higher. Dry whey futures are 1.40 cents lower to 0.10 cent higher.
