Wednesday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Cheese Prices Decrease; Milk Futures Increase

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

Block cheese price declined 0.75 cent, closing at $1.7825 with one load traded. There was an unfilled bid for a load of blocks at $1.72 and an uncovered offer for a load at $1.85. This provides no indication of the potential for price direction Thursday. Barrel cheese price declined 0.75 cent, closing at $1.58 with 13 loads traded. There were three unfilled bids and one uncovered offer remaining at the close. Dry whey price increased a penny, closing at 37.50 with 12 loads traded. Dry whey trading activity has certainly increased over the past week. Class III futures are 2 to 24 cents higher with May showing the greatest gain. Butter price increased 2.50 cents, closing at $2.3750 with seven loads traded. Grade A nonfat dry milk increased a penny, closing at $1.15 with one load traded. Class IV futures are 18 cents higher in the May contract, which is the only one traded so far. Butter futures are 0.25 cent lower to 2.72 cents higher. Dry whey futures are 1.40 to 2.50 cents higher.
