Thursday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Barrels Continue Lower

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

CORN: 4 Lower
SOYBEANS: 2 Lower
SOYBEAN MEAL: $2.70 Higher
LIVE CATTLE: $1.72 Higher
DOW JONES: 275 Points Higher
NASDAQ: 203 Points Higher
CRUDE OIL: $1.14 Higher

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

Block cheese price increased a penny, closing at $1.7925 with no loads traded. There were two unfilled bids and one uncovered offer remaining at the close. Barrel cheese price declined 3.25 cents, closing at $1.5475 with 16 loads traded. There were 18 unfilled bids and two uncovered offers with 10 of those bids resting at $1.54. Price initially declined to $1.5425 before buying interest moved the market higher. Dry whey price declined 0.50 cent, closing at 37 cents with nine loads traded. There is a significant increase in loads being traded without moving prices very much. That may indicate a somewhat balanced market for now. Class III futures are mixed, ranging from 25 cents lower to 6 cents higher. Trading volume has been very light. Butter price declined 3 cents, taking back Wednesday's gain and then some. Price closed at $2.3450 with one load traded. Grade A nonfat dry milk price gained a penny closing at $1.16 with four loads traded. Class IV futures are steady to 8 cents lower. Butter futures are 0.25 cent lower to 1.00 cent higher. Dry whey futures are 1.00 to 1.60 cents higher.
