Thursday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Dry Whey Posts a Significant Decline

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

CORN: 9 Lower
SOYBEANS: 17 Lower
SOYBEAN MEAL: $5.60 Higher
LIVE CATTLE: $4.20 Higher
DOW JONES: 13 Points Higher
NASDAQ: 74 Points Higher
CRUDE OIL: $0.05 Lower

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

Block cheese price initially moved 0.25 cent lower before buyers became more aggressive resulting in the market moving 1.75 cents higher to close at $1.83 with an unfilled bid at $1.80. Barrel cheese price declined 3 cents, closing at $1.72 with 14 loads traded and 4 unfilled bids below the market. Dry whey took a hit with the price declining 4.50 cents closing at 36.50 cents with 5 loads traded. This moves the price down to the lowest level since February 1st. Class III futures are 13 cents lower to 1 cent higher. Butter price remained unchanged at $2.3175 with 3 loads traded. Grade A nonfat dry milk price slipped 0.50 cent closing at $1.1250 with no loads traded. Class IV futures have not yet traded. Butter futures are 1.90 cents lower to 0.50 cent higher. Dry whey futures are 0.47-2.05 cents lower.
