Tuesday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Spot Prices Put Pressure on Milk Futures

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

CORN: 3 Lower
SOYBEANS: 8 Lower
SOYBEAN MEAL: $3.60 Lower
LIVE CATTLE: $0.17 Lower
DOW JONES: 127 Points Lower
NASDAQ: 24 Points Higher
CRUDE OIL: $1.07 Lower

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

Block cheese price increased 1.75 cents, closing at $1.89 with six loads traded. Barrel cheese price decreased 2 cents, closing at $1.5550 with 15 loads traded. The increase of activity may be the result of buyers wanting to purchase supply ahead of time to make sure they have an amount on hand for later demand. Yet, they are not aggressive as there is sufficient supply on hand. Dry whey price remained steady at 43.50 cents with no loads traded. Class III futures are unchanged to 41 cents lower. Butter price increased 2.25 cents, closing at $2.4575 with two loads traded. Grade A nonfat dry milk price fell 3.75 cents, ending at $1.2275 with five loads traded. This eliminates any gain over the past week. Class IV futures are 4 to 26 cents lower. Butter futures are unchanged to 1.22 cents
