Monday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Cheese Posts a Dramatic Reversal

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

Block cheese price exploded 15.50 cents higher with buyers wanting to take advantage of the loss of last week. However, there was no advantage to be had as the first load of blocks traded 15.25 cents higher nearly exceeding the overall decline of last week. Sellers saw the interest of buyers and held back for higher prices. Price closed at $1.99 with one unfilled bid remaining under the market. Barrel price increased 9 cents closing at $1.67 with 2 loads traded. There were 3 unfiled bids and 2 uncovered offers remaining at the close. Dry whey price increased 0.25 cents closing at 32.75 with 4 loads traded. Butter price declined 4 cents closing at $2.2825 with one load traded. Grade A nonfat dry milk price declined 0.25 cent closing at $1.1725 with no loads traded. Class III futures are 7 cents lower to 38 cents higher. Class IV futures are 14 cents higher in the two contacts that have traded so far. Butter futures are 0.02 cent lower to 0.50 cent higher. Dry whey futures are 0.32 cent lower to 0.40 cent higher.
