Monday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Cheese Prices Jump

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

CORN: 1 Lower
SOYBEANS: 1 Higher
SOYBEAN MEAL: $7.50 Lower
LIVE CATTLE: $0.70 Higher
DOW JONES: 5 Points Higher
NASDAQ: 142 Points Higher
CRUDE OIL: $3.10 Higher

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

Block cheese price jumped 14.25 cents, closing at $2.1975 with two loads traded. Barrel cheese price jumped 10 cents, closing at $1.8250 with seven loads traded. All who came to the spot market were satisfied with no unfilled bids or uncovered offers remaining at the close. Dry whey price remained unchanged at 39 cents with no loads traded. Class III futures jumped higher with contracts 1 to 64 cents higher. February shows the greatest gain. Butter price increased 3.75 cents, closing at $2.42 with one load traded. Grade A nonfat dry milk price declined 2 cents, closing at $1.2775 with one load traded. The decline of nonfat dry milk offset the gain of butter in the underlying price calculation. Class IV futures are steady to 25 cents lower. Butter futures are 0.90 cent lower to 2.60 cents higher. Dry whey futures are steady to 0.32 cent higher.
