Monday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Butter Falls Back

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

CORN: 8 Higher
SOYBEANS: 24 Lower
SOYBEAN MEAL: $20.70 Lower
LIVE CATTLE: $0.60 Higher
DOW JONES: 298 Points Higher
NASDAQ: 39 Points Higher
CRUDE OIL: $2.23 Higher

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

Block cheese price declined 3.50 cents closing at $2.06 with one load traded. There were no bids or offers remaining at the close. Barrel cheese price fell 8 cents ending at $1.87 with one load traded and two uncovered offers remaining at the close. Dry whey price increased a penny closing at 44.50 cents with one load traded. Butter took a hit with price falling 11.25 cents closing at $2.70 with four loads traded. This nearly eliminated the gain on Friday. Price swings over the past few days have been unprecedented. Grade A nonfat dry milk price declined 0.75 cents closing at $1.3575 with four loads traded. Class III futures are holding rather well limiting the losses. Futures range from unchanged to 24 cents lower, Class IV futures are 1-6 cents higher, but they have not traded since butter and nonfat dry milk prices have declined. Butter futures are 1.97 cents lower to 0.25 cents higher. Dry whey futures are steady to 0.25 cent lower.
