Friday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Block Cheese Price Falls Apart

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

Block cheese fell into a void. Price fell 11.50 cents, closing at $1.9775, with no loads traded. No buyers showed up during spot trading, with the decline showing no indication of a bottom. This moves price down to the lowest level it has been since Nov. 2. Barrel cheese price fell 3.25 cents, closing at $1.74 with four loads traded. This is the lowest price barrels have been since Jan. 27. Dry whey price remained unchanged at 45.50 cents with no loads traded. Class III futures range from 43 cents lower to 6 cents higher. January shows the greatest loss, while August showed the greatest gain. Butter price gained 4.75 cents, closing at $2.8550, with six loads traded. Grade A nonfat dry milk price remained steady at $1.35 with no loads traded. Class IV futures are 9 cents lower to 3 cents higher. Butter futures are 0.25 cent lower to 2.25 cents higher. Dry whey futures are 0.35 to 1 cent lower.
