Tuesday Midday Dairy Market Update - Milk Futures Mostly Unresponsive

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:
CORN: 2 Lower
SOYBEANS: 10 Lower
SOYBEAN MEAL: $8.60 Lower
LIVE CATTLE: $0.37 Higher
DOW JONES: 424 Points Higher
NASDAQ: 134 Points Higher
CRUDE OIL: $1.50 Lower

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

Block cheese price remained unchanged at $2.05 with no loads traded. There was an unfilled offer remaining at the close at $2.10. Barrel cheese price increased a penny to $2.19 with 2 loads traded and 2 uncovered offers remaining at the close. Dry whey price slipped 0.50 cent closing at 43.75 cents with no loads traded. Unfortunately, Class III futures have not responded to the stronger barrel price except for November which is showing a double-digit gain. Futures range from 33 cents lower to 14 cents higher. Butter price increased 3.25 cents closing at $3.20 with no loads traded. Grade A nonfat dry milk price declined 2 cents closing at $1.4675 with no loads traded. Class IV futures are following a similar pattern as Class III with November showing a gain while other contracts show losses. Contracts range from 33 cents lower to 7 cents higher. The Global Dairy Trade auction took place today with the trade weighted average showing a declined of 4.6 percent.
