Monday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Barrel Cheese Rebounds

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

CORN: 6 Lower
SOYBEANS: 3 Higher
SOYBEAN MEAL: $0.80 Lower
LIVE CATTLE: $0.82 Higher
DOW JONES: 600 Points Higher
NASDAQ: 352 Points Higher
CRUDE OIL: $0.45 Higher

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

Block cheese price remained unchanged at $2.05 with no loads traded. Barrel cheese price increased 5.50 cents closing at $2.18 with 4 loads traded. Dry whey price remained unchanged at 44.25 cents with no loads traded. It is interesting that barrels rebounded after the decline on Friday with limited reaction from traders. In fact, Class III futures were unable to hold the highs established prior to and during spot trading. Contracts are mixed from 14 cents lower to 15 cents higher with decline taking place in the June contract. Trading activity has been limited with only November showing over 100 contracts traded. Butter price declined 0.75 cent closing at $3.1675 with no loads traded. Grade A nonfat dry milk price slipped $0.25 closing at $1.4875 with 4 loads traded. Class IV futures are 14 cents lower to 11 cents higher. Butter futures are unchanged to 2 cents higher. Dry whey futures are 0.97 cent lower to 0.02 cent higher.
