Tuesday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Butter Price Moves Closer to a Record

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

CORN: 10 Higher
SOYBEANS: 19 Lower
SOYBEAN MEAL: $8.50 Lower
LIVE CATTLE: $0.47 Higher
DOW JONES: 179 Points Lower
NASDAQ: 96 Points Lower
CRUDE OIL: $0.47 Lower

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

Block cheese price slipped 0.50 cent to $1.76 with two loads traded. Barrel cheese price increased 1.75 cents closing at $1.8750 with one load traded. Dry whey price declined 2 cents to 44.50 with two loads traded. Class III futures held well for a short period after spot trading but weakened somewhat after spot trading. Butter price increased 2 cents with no loads traded. Grade A nonfat dry milk price increased 1.75 cents closing at $1.5375 with three loads traded. Class III futures are 16 cents lower to 22 cents higher. Class IV futures are 23-47 cents higher. Butter futures are 0.75–3.50 cents higher. Dry whey futures are 0.75–1.20 cents lower.
