Wednesday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Barrel Cheese Price Plummets

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

LIVE CATTLE: $1.35 Higher

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

Block cheese price declined 3.75 cents, closing at $1.85 with no loads traded. There was an offer for one load remaining at the close with no bids posted. Barrel cheese price fell 9.50 cents, ending at $1.79 with three loads traded. The sellers and buyers that showed up to the market Wednesday all went home satisfied, leaving no unfilled bids or offers remaining. This moves barrel price down to the lowest level since Jan. 31. Dry whey price declined 2 cents, closing at 42 cents with one load traded. The is the lowest price since Nov. 19, 2021. Class III futures are 57 cents lower to 36 cents higher. September 2022 shows the lowest price while September 2023 shows the most gain. Butter price increased 2.75 cents, ending at $3.06, continuing the strength of Tuesday. Grade A nonfat dry milk price declined 2.25 cents, closing at $1.5925 with one load traded. Class IV futures are 19 to 21 cents lower. Butter futures are 2.50 cents lower to 0.45 cent higher. Dry whey futures are 0.50 to 1.27 cents lower. The Federal order class prices for the month of June will be announced Wednesday.
