Tuesday Midday Dairy Market Update - Milk Futures Show Strong Gains

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

CORN: 41 Higher
SOYBEANS: 51 Higher
SOYBEAN MEAL: $4.90 Higher
LIVE CATTLE: $0.85 Lower
DOW JONES: 694 Points Lower
NASDAQ: 214 Points Lower
CRUDE OIL: $8.40 Higher

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

Block cheese price increased 4 cents, closing at $2.03 with one load traded. This is the highest price since Jan. 12. Barrel cheese price remained unchanged at $1.9350 with seven loads traded. Price initially increased a penny before selling interest moved price back to close at unchanged. That movement took a little of the bullish edge off the market, but not very much. Dry whey declined 0.75 cent closing at 75.25 cents with two loads traded. Class III futures are 19 to 45 cents higher. Class IV futures are 10 to 43 cents higher. Butter futures are 4.00 to 7.50 cents higher. Dry whey futures are 0.25 cent lower to 0.52 cent higher. Tuesday is the last trading day for February futures and options with the February Federal Order prices announced Wednesday.
