Thursday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Milk Futures Under Severe Pressure

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

CORN: 1 Lower
SOYBEANS: 5 Lower
SOYBEAN MEAL: $1.50 Lower
LIVE CATTLE: $0.07 Higher
DOW JONES: 142 Points Lower
NASDAQ: 22 Points Higher
CRUDE OIL: $1.34 Higher

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

Block cheese price came under selling pressure with price declining 1.50 cents, closing at $2.05 with no loads traded. There were two uncovered offers remaining at the close of spot trading with no interest shown from buyers Thursday. Barrel cheese price remained unchanged at $1.8725 with no loads traded. Two offers remained at the close with no interest from buyers. Buyers may have their needs satisfied for the time being possibly stepping back from the market. Class III futures are unchanged to 75 cents lower with February limit down. Double-digit losses are prevalent through the October contract. Butter price increased 3.25 cents closing at $2.7425 with 10 loads traded. This is the highest price since Dec. 9, 2015. Grade A nonfat dry milk price remained unchanged at $1.6675 with seven loads traded. Dry whey remained steady at 75.25 with no loads traded. Class IV futures are taking a hit on limited trading activity. Futures are 16 to 38 cents lower. Butter futures are 8.45 cents lower to 4.97 cents higher. Dry whey futures are 0.75 cent lower to 0.50 cent higher. USDA will release the November Dairy Products report Thursday afternoon.
