Friday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Barrels Move Above Blocks

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

SOYBEAN MEAL: $3.90 Lower
LIVE CATTLE: $0.72 Higher
DOW JONES: 446 Points Lower
NASDAQ: 108 Points Lower
CRUDE OIL: $1.66 Higher

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

Block cheese price declined 7.75 cents, closing at $1.92 with one load traded. There were four uncovered offers remaining at the close with no unfilled bids. Barrel cheese price increased 3.25 cents, closing at $1.96 with four loads traded. Barrels are now 4 cents above blocks and quite a change from two weeks ago. Similar to Thursday, barrel initially increased to $1.9650 before price slipped back to $1.96 by the close. Butter price declined 6.25 cents, closing at $2.7250 with 12 loads traded. There were both unfilled bids and uncovered offers remaining at the close. Grade A nonfat dry milk price gained 3.50 cents closing at $1.8150 with four loads traded. There were 13 unfilled bids at the close. This is the highest price since June 23, 2014. Dry whey price remained unchanged at 77 cents. Class III futures are 21 cents lower to 4 cents higher. Class IV futures are 39 cents lower to 30 cents higher. Butter futures are 0.50 to 3.97 cents lower. Dry whey futures are steady to 0.62 cent higher.
