Block cheese price increased 1.75 cents closing at $1.7525 with no loads traded. Barrel cheese gained 4 cents closing at $1.47 with 2 loads traded. There was an unfilled bid remaining in both categories at the close, suggesting higher prices. Tuesday, the gain of only barrels and dry whey triggered aggressive buying in Class III futures pushing prices higher. More gains Wednesday in both categories of cheese as well as dry whey leave futures mixed with prices 15 cents lower to 13 cents higher. Butter price slipped 0.25 cent to $1.7850 with 6 loads traded. Price initially declined to $1.7725 before more aggressive buying interest moved price off its lows. Grade A nonfat dry milk futures slipped 0.25 cent settling at $1.3575 with 3 loads traded. However, despite slight weakness of butter and powder, Class IV futures are 1 cent to 15 cents higher. Butter futures are 2.20 cents lower to 1.00 cents higher. Dry whey futures are 0.95 cent higher.
