MILK:
Milk futures were unable to trend higher last week and much the same may be in store this week unless cheese prices find support. Trade is expected to develop slowly Tuesday as traders begin the holiday-shortened week with little focus on. Concern has developed over the news Prairie Farms Cooperative will be closing all of their eight Alabama processing facilities and four facilities in Georgia. It has yet to be released as to why these facilities are being closed. Farmers will need to find another plant that will take their milk. That has been a challenge in the past and will be the same at this time.
CHEESE:
There is hope cheese prices may seasonally begin to increase, but increases might be slow. Traders will need to be convinced that prices will trend higher before they move futures higher. Buyers of cheese will need to be convinced that they need to be more aggressive due to increased demand and a tightening supply.
BUTTER:
Butter price is not expected to do much as supply and demand seem to be balanced. Buyers have been able to increase ownership without having to chase price. Butter production has been active due to cream levels remaining higher than usual at this time of year.
